The Crimson Sabres were a pirate band active on Novo Tressida in the Magistracy of Canopus in the mid-3060s.^[1]

History

The Crimon Sabres were employed by Baron Keith Garson to kill Duke Tremain Garson and his heir, Cornel Garson so that Keith - cousin to Cornel, and second in line to the title - could inherit the title of Duke. The Sabres were successful initially, killing a number of people including Duke Tremain, but the attacks prompted the hiring of the mercenary command known as Pike's Pikemen to defend the planet and protect Duke Cornel.^[1]

When Baron Garson learned that Cornel was going to visit a number of new farming communities he arranged for the Sabres to ambush the Duke's party. The Duke was escorted by the Second Company of the Ducal Guard, a Ducal Guard transport platoon consisting of two transport helicopters and two Warrior Attack Helicopters, and a detachment from the Pikemen led by Major Roland Pike. When the three lances of Sabre 'Mechs attacked, they were able to down the two Warrior helicopters and kill half the Ducal Guard infantry forces, as well as immobilising two of the Pikemen's heavy tanks and inflicting heavy damage on three of the four Pikemen 'Mechs. However, the combined Pikemen and Ducal Guard forces downed seven Sabre 'Mechs and captured the senior Sabres officer, Hanson Toliver. Toliver soon gave up the identity of Baron Garson as his employer, but the Baron managed to evade capture and flee.^[1]
