Selena Rhodes was a VTOL operator in the Thirteenth Stalking Horse mercenary unit during the Federated Commonwealth Civil War and Jihad.[1]
History
Lieutenant Rhodes and her close friend Captain James Forsythe both graduated from the Sakhara Academy and served in the First Ceti Hussars together, before leaving to join Jeffrey Morgan's new Thirteenth Stalking Horse mercenary command. While Rhodes was a talented pilot in her own right, the duo's decision to make Forsythe their VTOL pilot lead to rumors that their close partnership was due to an ongoing romantic entanglement. Despite this, the VTOL duo now known as "The Rangers" fought well against Katherine Steiner-Davion's forces in the Capellan March during the Civil War, racking up a significant kill count by the war's end.[1]
The Rangers' crowning moment occurred during the Jihad, as the Thirteenth Stalking Horse clashed with the Word of Blake's Fifth Division on Sheratan. Assigned with eliminating the Blakists' headquarters while the rest of the Stalking Horse kept the Fifth Division's main force distracted, the Rangers made a difficult flight through hilly terrain before abruptly appearing directly overhead of the HQ encampment. The surprised Blake militiamen had no time to react before Forsythe and Rhodes demolished or disabled all of their BattleMechs and combat vehicles and, by the time the Stalking Horse were driven off of Sheratan, the Rangers would go on to account for more than two Level IIs of destroyed Blakist machinery.[1]
