Neamiah Stockl was the commanding officer of the Second Dismal Disinherited during the War of 3039.[1]
History
Colonel Stockl and the Second Dismal Disinherited were tasked with garrisoning the captured Draconis Combine world of Huan on behalf of the Federated Suns in mid-3039. After receiving some assistance in fortifying the planet from General Raul Coburn and the First Dismal Disinherited, Stockl was left to defend the planet alone once Coburn's forces departed for the invasion of Igualada. Shortly afterwards, reports began flowing in of an intense wave of Combine counterattacks all along the Combine/FedSuns border, leading Stockl to intensify his fortification efforts in anticipation of a major assault. When the Thirty-second Galedon Regulars arrived on Huan on 17 August, Stockl hit the enemy's landing zone with as much force as possible, dealing heavy damage to the Regulars and delaying their deployment at the cost of fifteen Disinherited aerospace fighters. When Stockl's ground units reached the Regulars' LZ, the ensuing battle resulted in heavy casualties for both sides but left the Disinherited in a slightly better position in terms of salvaged materiel.[1]
Two more major assaults continued to cause heavy losses for both the Disinherited and Regulars and, by the end of August, both sides had settled into a low level of conflict while they conserved their energy in case of off-world reinforcement. When said reinforcements arrived on 20 September, it was the Second Night Stalkers coming to support the Regulars. Rather than risk his men against two enemy forces, Stockl collapsed his defensive perimeter around the city of Sellan and managed to barely survive the subsequent assault from the Night Stalkers. The return of General Coburn with both the First and Third Dismal Disinherited soon after forced the Regulars and Night Stalkers back, once more with high casualties for the mercenaries and Combine troops alike. While Coburn gave the order to withdraw from Huan not long after arriving, Stockl's performance in the battle had earned Tai-sa Grieg Jaekel's respect—in a final meeting between the two officers, the Combine commander praised the Second Disinherited's courage and skill before returning Stockl's captured soldiers.[1]
