Grieg Jaekel was the commanding officer of the Thirty-second Galedon Regulars during the War of 3039.[1]
History
On 7 August 3039, Tai-sa Jaekel and the Thirty-second Galedon Regulars arrived in the Huan system to liberate it from the occupying forces of the Second Dismal Disinherited. While making planetfall on the 17th, Jaekel's landing zone came under intense aerospace attack that left many of his DropShips damaged—one was even outright destroyed—and delayed the Thirty-second Regulars' deployment for some time. The arrival of the Second Disinherited's ground forces soon after lead to a bloody battle that left both sides hurt, with two more major assaults resulting in similar outcomes. By the end of August, Jaekel and his mercenary opposite had settled into a low-level conflict in order to conserve their manpower for the arrival of off-world reinforcements. The Second Night Stalkers reached Huan on 20 September to aid Jaekel's troops, forcing the Second Disinherited to condense their defensive perimeter in order to weather the combined Regulars/Night Stalkers offensive.[1]
When the First and Third Dismal Disinherited arrived to relieve their sister regiment, their subsequent orbital drop directly on top of the Kuritans' positions forced the Thirty-second Galedon and Second Night Stalkers to pull back from the front line. This would prove to be the last battle for control of Huan, as the First Disinherited's commander gave the withdrawal order not long after. In a final meeting with Colonel Neamiah Stockl of the Second Disinherited, Jaekel saluted the courage and talents of Stockl and his men, with both officers agreeing to an exchange of prisoners of war. When the Dismal Disinherited departed on 25 September, Huan was back in the hands of the Draconis Combine.[1]
