Henry Sobiroff was the commanding officer of the First Proserpina Hussars during the War of 3039 and later commanded the Galedon Military District's Matsuida Prefecture.[2][1]
History
On 25 August 3039, Tai-sa Sobiroff and the First Proserpina Hussars arrived on the occupied world of Thestria in order to aid the Sixteenth Galedon Regulars in evicting the defending Castor Regiment of the Dioscuri mercenary group. Sobiroff quickly launched an orbital strike against the mercenaries' defenses in Thestria's capital city before the Sixteenth Galedon made a headlong attack that dealt significant collateral damage to the capital's infrastructure. When Sobiroff attempted to claim command of the Thestria task force on orders from Gunji-no-Kanrei Theodore Kurita, the Regulars' commander Leonard Kobayashi refused on the grounds that he would only obey the orders of Coordinator Takashi Kurita—who had appointed Kobayashi as senior officer. The ongoing argument this caused crippled the Draconis Combine forces' ability to coordinate their actions, giving the Dioscuri plenty of opportunities to avoid destruction.[2]
When the Dioscuri were finally caught between Sobiroff's Hussars and Kobayashi's Regulars, the Hussars' commander offered to allow the mercenaries to depart Thestria unmolested if they ceased the fighting. This move enraged the staunch traditionalist Kobayashi, who subsequently ordered the last intact battalion of the Sixteenth Galedon to assault the departing Castor Regiment in the hopes that it would force Sobiroff to join in the battle. Instead, Sobiroff and the First Hussars stood by and watched as the Dioscuri annihilated the remainder of the Sixteenth Galedon before going so far as to offer the mercenaries a partial share of the salvageable equipment. When the Castor Regiment left Thestria to the Combine's rule on 1 September, Kobayashi and several of his senior officers committed seppuku to atone for their defeat.[2]
By 3050, Sobiroff had been promoted to Tai-sho and commanded the Matsuida Prefecture in the Galedon Military District.[1]
