Garrett Bruni was a notable officer of the Third Lyran Regulars during the Dark Age Era.[1]
History
Hauptmann Bruni was best known for his rivalry with Captain Lionel Willem-Alexander of the First Tamarind Regulars, as the two officers dueled against each other numerous times over the span of a decade. The first two of the rivals' clashes occurred during raids and ended in defeats for Bruni, as Willem-Alexander's piloting skills made up for the smaller size of his BattleMech. Their third battle during Operation HAMMERFALL lacked a conclusive finish when the Third Regulars were forced to retreat from the battlefield. Their fourth and final duel proved to be decisive when Willem-Alexander, incorrectly gauging the depth of a pond he intended to use as cover, mired his 'Mech up to its waist. Bruni easily got behind his entrapped opponent and shattered the Tamarind officer's gyroscope, forcing his surrender and making him a prisoner of the Third Regulars. Not only did this allow the two men to meet face-to-face for the first time, it enabled them to build a mutual friendship while Willem-Alexander was imprisoned by the Regulars.[1]
