Overview

Acamar Civil War was a proxy-war between the Federated Commonwealth and Capellan Confederation.[1]

Preparations

The coup leaders arrested the bulk of the Parliament and dozens of free citizens identified as "Davion sympathizers", but failed to detail some of the anti-Liao officers of the Planetary Militia, among them Colonel Sarah Fletcher from the First Provisional Acamar Cavalry, whose supporters protected from the detention. She was able to contact with a few other military leaders who had avoided capture and together they were able to musted one third of the militia around Huss. The situation was in a stalemate until mercenaries that had participated in Operation STILETTO were detected burning towards Acamar. More militia joined Fletcher in Huss and this was the breaking point. Colonel Ben-Zhayne ordered the Second Acamar Cavalry to destroy the rebels. The war was back to Acamar.[2]

History

The mercenaries arrived much earlier that anticipated, and thanks to an ambush by Fletcher forces were able to contact with her and combat on the 24 January 3062 finally joining all their forces in Huss.[2]

Pressed by Barbara Katz, Soloch Ben-Zhayne arranged his forces and while pinning most of the defenders on Huss he targeted his most experienced forces to fight the mercenaries and destroy his base of operations, which his forces did. Both sides took their toll, but Fletcher forces a bit more.[3]

Fletcher saw that unless she did something bold time was against her. Leaving only her infantry behind and splitting the mercenary force into small commands to reinforce her forces and focus them against known Ben-Zhayne supported, she used the rest of her militia forces against militia units with divided loyalties trying to get some of them to swich sides or to at least not fight her.

He plan paid of dividends and her forces drove several unit from field and crushed a few more, and though finally stopped, she got what he wanted. News of her success against the coup plotters was amplified when several still free members of the Parliament endorsed her. Ben-Zhayne had to pull forces from six forces to contain Fletcher at Huss. It was a temporarily risk, but acceptable for him. But Fletcher forces broke the line in three points and went directly to Kalskag to end the war.[4]

By early March Fletcher kept the pressure on Katz and Ben-Zhayne but saw that a direct assault on Kalskag would mean the city's destruction. To avoid this she designed a plan. She would artificially create gaps in her line and leaked that information to Ben-Zhayne expecting his forces to attack here. She then enlisted the mercenaries to strike two locations inside the city: the Kalskag Coliseum (the makeshift prision where political prisoners had been sent) and the presidential palace where Katz, Ben-Zhayne and the Liaost mercenary unit stayed.

When the mercenaries working for Fletcher combat dropped near the Kalskag Coliseum they found elements of the Acamar Militia and elements of the Heinrich's Headhunters (which included a few 'Mechs). Fletcher's forces were able to liberate the prisoners and try to hide them in the city.[5]

After that and with most battles quite evently matched, Fletcher's mercenaries combat dropped right on palace grounds. There they found additional elements of the Acamar Militia and the rest 'Mechs from Heinrich's Headhunters. Katz tried to escape to the spaceport were two DropShips had been waiting for the last three weeks. The fate of the rebel leaders was unknown, but Fletcher forces had won the day.[6]
