Dr. Amanda Holyfield was a xenobiologist working with Interstellar Expeditions.[1]
History
Dr. Holyfield encountered the Jardinian Fire Cat (panthera ignus jardinalis) in the Mesozonia rainforest of Shasta, the first sighting of the cousin to the tabiranth since Jardine vanished from general knowledge in the First Succession War. She published her work, Panthera ignus jardinalis—A New Link? in a Free Worlds League journal sometime before early 3067. Three days after publication she was killed in a freak laboratory explosion "accident," followed by denunciation of her work by peers in the field. Her death and discreditization were the result of Word of Blake efforts to keep Jardine hidden.[1]
Unknown to Dr. Holyfield, the fire cats were introduced to the Shastan jungles when a ship contracted by Interstellar Expeditions, Clarke crashed on Shasta after being brought down by Word of Blake vessels pursuing them for discovering the world around 3062. In its cargo hold were over a dozen fire cats that escaped into the world.[2]
