The Tabiranth, often abbreviated "tabi", is a felinoid alien species noted for its hardiness, adaptability and almost regal grace.[1][3]
Native to the world of Jardine, which was lost in the First Succession War, the Tabiranth survived due to its popularity as a pet, pack animal, or riding beast. Known throughout the Inner Sphere, it is a favorite among more sophisticated nobles and animal trainers. Exports and breeding enterprises have spread it to dozens of worlds. They're handled like horses with the use of reins and heel/spurs.[1][4][5][6][7][8][9]
One such tabiranth owner was Ichiro Sanchez, the Count of Porula on Campoleone, who was killed at a lavish banquet he threw for his favorite tabiranth.[10]
The Clans, unaware of Jardine's fate, utilized a Tabiranth Bloodhouse for the popular Clan Spaniel series.[11]
The interjection "ah tabiranth spit" was a common phrase in the Inner Sphere[12] The "wiles of a tabiranth trader" was a common phrase to compliment somone's cunning[13]
Tabiranths have been used as infantry mounts.[14][15][16]
A tabiranth is the mascot of the Wasat Avengers, under the care of Elton Grant.[17]
