After the capture of Kaitangata and the defeat of the planet's [[Federated Suns]] militia forces, ''[[Sao-wei]]'' Barnett became an outspoken supporter of the [[artillery]] vehicles captured from the enemy militiamen. Given command of all six artillery machines in the Home Guard [[battalion]], Barnett developed a skill for utilizing the vehicles' communications equipment to keep better track of the battalion's components than the unit commander did from the helm of his [[BattleMech]]. While Barnett's willingness to speak out would have been rewarded in militaries such as the [[Republic Armed Forces]] and [[Armed Forces of the Federated Suns]], in the [[Capellan Confederation Armed Forces]] it was considered likely to bring him official reprimand.<ref name=45FSp24/>
