Ysabeau Johnson was the commanding officer of the Ryuken-ni as of the War of 3039.[1]

History

During the first wave of the War of 3039, Tai-sa Johnson and the Ryuken-ni were tasked with raiding Federated Suns and Lyran Commonwealth worlds in order to draw forces away from the front lines. The Ryuken-ni's first strike against New Earth in May quickly eliminated the New Earth Trading Company's mercenary garrison, leaving the thousands of tons of supplies in the NETC's warehouses free for the taking. After ordering her soldiers to take as much as they could carry, Johnson directed her forces to destroy every remaining military target on the planet. Effectively destroying the planetary militia after four days of rampaging, the Ryuken-ni left New Earth just before the Hsien Hotheads arrived to liberate the planet.[2]

Johnson and the Ryuken-ni next accompanied Tai-sa Noritake Kansa's Ryuken-san in a raid against the crossroads world of Caph. While the Draconis Combine commanders expected the presence of the Third Crucis Lancers, they were entirely unaware that the Davion Assault Guards, Thirty-third Avalon Hussars, and the entirety of Wolf's Dragoons were stationed on the planet as well. While the initial assault against the Third Lancers' Aswan Military Reservation headquarters went well, a joint Assault Guards and Wolf's Dragoons force soon surrounded the Ryuken units. The fighting between the rival forces lasted for several days until Tai-sa Kansa lead a raid, comprised of troops from both Ryuken regiments, targeting the Thirty-third Hussars' staging base on the continent of Brunnel. The heavy damage done to the Hussars during this operation provided Johnson and Kansa's troops with the breathing room necessary to disengage from the fighting, saving the Ryuken units from mortal injury and allowing them to leave Caph.[1]

After barely escaping the maelstrom of Caph, Johnson and Kansa's task force arrived at Saffel expecting another over-sized defensive garrison. Instead, Saffel's two volunteer militiamen regiments were easily destroyed by the elite Ryuken troops without putting up any notable resistance. When Johnson and Kansa informed Tai-shu Michi Noketsuna of their victory, he ordered the two commanders to remain in place in order to claim Saffel as the first victory in the Combine's imminent Operation OROCHI.[3]

By 3050, Johnson continued to lead the Ryuken-ni and was stationed on Quentin.[4]
