Wild Things is a short story by Nick Marsala that was first published as introductory fiction for Jihad Turning Points: Tharkad.
Plot Summary
Sergeant Todd Baker and his ten-man unit have spent most of their time in battle armor over the last years, as a result of constant pursuit by Word of Blake forces who have hunted them like animals. During that time, they had little contact with other Lyran resistance groups and even began to lose faith in the liberation of Tharkad. Everything changed with the news of the arrival of a coalition force led by Adam Steiner. Spurred by the news, that gives them new hope, the Lyrans attack a shocked WoB unit and wipe them out. Knowing that additional enemy forces are approaching, the Lyrans turn to fight them.
