The Cheetahs is a name derived from a friend of Jack Traver and Mia Fowler who died on Terra during Clan Wolf's rise to ilClan. Their friend's callsign was Cheetah, the mercenary company named in their honor. They were initially of Inner Sphere origins, their founding members formerly from the Republic Military.
History
Inception
The founding members traded fifteen years of intelligence data from Terra to the Federated Suns' in exchange for a company of mechs. With their newfound company of battlemechs along with a Dire Wolf and Phantom—Devlin Stone's Atlas II the trio founded The Cheetahs[1]
Resurgence Era Update: New Avalon
July 25th, 3152 would be a fateful day for Jack and Mia. Currently on Vindemiatrix, they were prepping for their next contract to raid a Wolf Empire world. While in a local restaurant they spotted some other mercenaries that had a familiar feel about them. Jack and Mia swore they recognized at least one in the group of three. After staring for a little too long one of the men firmly asks if they need something to which they shy away with some head shakes. Once the trio left, both Jack and Mia tried to tail them. When they reached the spaceport both were caught by the trio and the truth came out. The two Cheetahs warriors had stumbled upon the Seychelles Stonehearts and Nomad Republic - all former RAF personnel as well. When all was cleared up and Justin Hall arrived, the Cheetahs were brought into the War Party.[3]
Travelling to New Avalon with the War Party gave them a challenging time as Jack and Mia were heavily resented by many RAF veterans. Justin Hall came to their defense when he could but to even be associated with Clan Wolf was enough to turn people against them. When offered to be rolled back into the Chain of Command rather than be mercenary, they declined. In time a handful of other RAF personnel that fought on Terra and aided the Wolves against the Jade Falcons had been brought into The Cheetah's ranks.
With the establishment of the Cameron Guild, The Cheetahs joined under Pei-Ling's leadership. However, with Justin Hall in the formation, the Nomad Republic was not far from earshot.[2]

The composition of The Cheetahs echoes their close ties with Nomad Republic. After arriving at New Avalon they received a significant discount on the trio of Bushwackers produced by the Harmonia and Necessitas. Having similar designs also helps to keep repair costs down as there is only a need to order in duplicate parts to repair the Anvils and Bushwackers.[2]
Tactics
Still a very young mercenary company, they have begun testing out what they call the 'Twin Pillars' formation. With two 100 ton Battlemechs between the two lances they act as anchor points. Depending on the situation they might move in such a way as to split an enemy formation's focus. Hammer and Anvil strategies are at the forefront of their strategic mindset as well.[2]
Color Scheme
The Cheetahs apply a distinctive paint scheme with their torsos painted golden yellow, their arms black, and their legs gray. Yellow, black, and white accents are added throughout. Warriors are permitted to paint unique iconography for achievements, including the BloodRibbon if appropriate. The Cheetah logo is always portrayed with the open mouth facing forward. [4]
