Talk:Ryan's Rebels
Appearance
Factual accuracy?
The brief "introductory" paragraph does not cite references, and I think it is plain wrong. Ryan's Rebels was Redjack Ryan's pirate band (duh) and as such already existed long before the merger with the Valkyrate (whose pirate band was Morgaine's Valkyries). - Just done a keyword search on the story Unholy Union, it threw up the line "Maria keyed her comm. “Attention all. We’re good to go. Valkyries, with me. Rebels, you’re back with Redjack. We’ll see you at the rendezvous point.” in a scene dated 13 Nov 28, and then a scene a little later in the story dated 1 Dec 28 that has Maria pitching the formation of the Greater Valkyrate so we can at least confirm that Ryan's band of pirates had been called Rebels prior to the merger.
- The story also potentially throws a spanner in the works for Susie Morgraine-Ryan date of birth however.--Dmon (talk) 06:09, 20 August 2024 (EDT)
- Susie's birth year is an old joke. I actually prodded author Chris Hussey (who wrote Unholy Union) about it on the BattleCorps forum back then and as it turns out he had simply miscalculated her birth year and thus overlooked that Ryan and Maria already had a daughter by the time his story was set. Though given their biographies, it's easy to imagine Ryan was unaware of Maria's pregnancy or his daughter - he was sent to Fianna in 3017, wrecked the place, and then fled to Butte Hold and broke with Hendrik Grimm III. Susie was born in 3018, when he was already gone. Frabby (talk) 11:19, 20 August 2024 (EDT)
