Talk:Prosperity

From BattleIntelligence

I'm not sure the opining on the origins of this ship is needed or really correct. We know the Clans brought Broadswords, they're functionally the same, but all of the war materiel could be stored as cargo and unpacked in the Inner Sphere. If we know anything about the Clans, its that they're willing to waste logistic capital if it means smashing faces. They'd absolutely bring cargo Leopards. Especially with some merchant fleet that got told to keep up or they'd be thrown out an air lock. Ocherstone (talk) 11:35, 6 August 2024 (EDT)

I stand by the observation that a Leopard converted to (tiny) cargo ship is extremely unlikely to come from the homeworlds and is thus very likely salvage from the early days of the invasion. Concur, though, that this info isn’t strictly needed in the article as it amounts to speculation. Frabby (talk) 11:53, 6 August 2024 (EDT)
The cargo Leopard could potentially bring 3 trinaries of Dashers and Baboons. While the Broadsword brings 5 'Mechs. Transportation is wonky (do we know if we can stuff bays full of parts up to 150 tons yet?) and I'm not strongly disagreeing or anything. Just wanted the thought out there: I find it more likely they had a Leopard sitting around from homeworlds rather than took time out of their freebirth-hating time to refit a dirty Spheroid Dropship for a bunch of lazy merchants.Ocherstone (talk) 12:11, 6 August 2024 (EDT)
There was an Errata ruling on the forums recently that sparked some discussion but ultimately just confirms what people have assumed for decades: A 'Mech bay can hold 1 'Mech and function as a bay; or it can store up to 100 tons of cargo (including, say, 5 Locusts) but count as a cargo bay, without the 'Mech bay functionality for maintenance, repairs and combat drops. Or you take the extra step to rip out the entire bay, and get 150 tons of cargo space.
My argument regarding this particular ship is that a Broadsword or any other 'Mech carrier would have been a better 'Mech carrier, and virtually any other cargo DropShip would have been a better cargo carrier. A cargo Leopard is pretty much the very last ship you would waste hardpoints for on the long route from the homeworlds.
This is just conjecture though, and you disagreeing with my thought all but proves that it shouldn’t be in the article. Let’s stick to the facts and let people make their own assumptions. Frabby (talk) 15:01, 6 August 2024 (EDT)
