Sergeant Major Steven Young was a MechWarrior and noncommissioned officer, serving in the Eridani Light Horse during the thirty-first century.[1][2][3]

History

Early Career

As of 3025, Young was a member of the Command Lance, 25th Heavy Assault Company, 5th Striker Battalion of the 21st Striker Regiment, at which time he went by "Steven Young Jr.".[1]

Task Force Serpent

By 3060, when the Eridani Light Horse were on Huntress during the attack on Clan Smoke Jaguar as part of Task Force Serpent, Young had risen to become Regimental Sargent Major and a member of Brevet General Ariana Winston's Command Lance. While in his role in March 3060, Young destroyed a Jaguar Hellhound, which had launched a desperate close range attack against Ariana Winston's Cyclops.[2]

Capellan-St. Ives War

Young survived the battles in the Clan Homeworlds, and was able to return home to the Inner Sphere, with the remains of Task Force Serpent. In 3062, he was deployed with his unit from Kittery to Milos in the Capellan Confederation, as part of their role as "peacekeepers" sent to assist the St. Ives Compact in the Capellan-St. Ives War.[4] Still apart of the Brevet General's Command Company,[3] then Edwin Amis, he helped protect his General against a Capellan assassination attempt by Death Commando Chen Shao on 22 March 3062.

Young, by then a gray-haired warrior who was older than even Edwin Amis himself, killed Chen Shao with a blast from an old-fashioned pump-action sawed-off shotgun.[5]

BattleMech

In 3025 Young piloted a Thunderbolt BattleMech.[1] In 3059, Young was piloting an Archer, which was damaged during training exercises prior to Operation SERPENT.[6] The Eridani Light Horse traded Young's damaged Archer, and four other damaged 'Mechs, to the Tsamma Crucis March Militia for five undamaged 'Mechs. Sergeant Major Young received a new CPLT-C3 Catapult from this trade.[7]
