Shurin Goros was the commanding officer of the Sixth Benjamin Regulars during the War of 3039.[1]

History

In late 3039, Sho-sho Goros was given command of a task force comprised of the Sixth Benjamin and Eighth Galedon Regulars with the mission of liberating the occupied world of Marduk from the forces of Field Marshal James Sandoval. Goros was granted overall command of the Draconis Combine's forces by Gunji-no-Kanrei Theodore Kurita himself and was told to work with Tai-sa Homai Lu of the Eighth Galedon in order to achieve their goal. However, the Eighth Galedon Regulars arrived on Marduk three days before Goros and her Sixth Benjamin, granting Tai-sa Lu temporary command of the fighting. When Goros did reach Marduk, she ordered her forces to drop just thirty kilometers from the city of New Pontiac, which quickly brought them into contact with Sandoval's defenders.[1]

Sandoval's numerical superiority turned the 6 August battle for New Pontiac into a bloody struggle for Goros' Regulars and the Sixth Benjamin's propensity for suicidal frontal charges, combined with ongoing disputes between Goros and Lu, soon turned the battle for Marduk into a messy affair. While Lu advocated for a careful approach intended to preserve the task force long enough for reinforcements to arrive, Goros favored a strategy of extreme aggression meant to force Sandoval off-world at the cost of high Combine casualties. This disagreement created numerous openings for the Tenth Deneb Light Cavalry, whose raids quickly left both the suburbs of New Pontiac and the Combine-held city of Stanton in ruins. Goros' renewed offensive against New Pontiac on 23 September managed to push deep into the city before a combined Tenth DLC/First Robinson Rangers counter-push drove her soldiers into a rout. For the next four days, the Combine bled troops and equipment as they were relentlessly pursued by an unleashed Tenth DLC and its aerospace fighters.[1]

The Regulars' retreat ended once they reached the relative stability of Fort Stroum, where Goros' men battled for another two days in order to buy Lu enough time to create a fortified base within the city limits. When Sandoval marched the rest of his forces to Fort Stroum on 2 October, the ensuing fight turned into another stalemate, with Sandoval incapable of destroying the Regulars and Goros unable to successfully break through the Federated Suns besiegers. Over the next few weeks, Goros received enough off-world reinforcements to maintain her position but not enough to liberate Marduk. Only the arrival of withdrawal orders for Sandoval's units caused the FedSuns to abandon Marduk, although in the process of leaving the world they thoroughly raided the planet's materiel stockpiles, devastating the planetary economy.[1]
