Sepeiro Saitou was a notable tank commander in the Nineteenth Pesht Regulars during the Dark Age Era.[1]
History
In 3144, Tai-i Saitou's tank company of the Nineteenth Pesht Regulars was tasked with defending a trio of Deep Ores Company refineries on Bjarred. While the Nineteenth Regulars only expected its armor assets to hold a foe in place until the arrival of BattleMech reinforcements, a raid from the Incinerators pirate band of Santander V in January 3145 lead Saitou to charge ahead of the rest of his comrades. Leading a platoon of the armor company's fastest machines, Saitou arrived at the pirates' landing site in time to see a lance of 'Mechs emerge from the raider's Leopard-class DropShip. Saitou and one of his tanks fired upon the pirates from atop the Highland Overlook, which succeeded in enraging their opponents enough to lure them into a point-blank ambush from the remaining half of his platoon. Unfortunately, the Incinerators' heavier machines easily weathered the tankers' fire and swiftly destroyed the ambushers, leading Saitou to order his remaining subordinate to retreat to the refinery complex while he fought a rearguard action.[1][2]
Knowing that the Regulars force still at the refinery could not hold out against a medium 'Mech lance but stood a chance of resisting a lighter opponent, Saitou charged directly into the midst of the pirate machines before colliding into the shin of a Wolverine. While Saitou was subsequently killed by the remainder of the lance, the injured Wolverine likewise met its demise at the hands of a Regulars Demolisher upon reaching the refinery complex. Ultimately, Saitou's company were hunted down and destroyed by the three surviving pirate 'Mechs, although the time they bought was enough to ensure that no resources could be stolen before the Nineteenth Regulars' BattleMechs chased the pirates off-world.[1][2]
