Sark Harkness was a notable officer in the Davion Assault Guards during the late Succession Wars Era and Clan Invasion Era.[1]
History
Captain Harkness was primarily known for his personal style of combat and for the BattleMech that he piloted. When Harkness was assigned to the Fourth Davion Guards in 3030, he discovered the 'Mech of deceased First Prince Ian Davion cached in a warehouse, with it having become unit superstition that the machine was cursed. After receiving permission to refurbish and pilot the Prince's 'Mech, Harkness fully replaced the decapitated machine's head and cockpit before proceeding to repeatedly destroy the forces of the Draconis Combine. While he was able to pilot his 'Mech at high speeds, he was often left behind by the faster members of the Fourth Guards and developed a taste for single combat as a result of often having to fight on his own. Harkness transferred to the Davion Assault Guards in 3036 and chose to further modify the Prince's 'Mech in 3047 in the belief that Ian Davion would have wanted his machine to be as lethal as possible. Even after upgrading his weapon systems, Harkness still held a preference for melee combat against any of his opponents who managed to survive his ranged attacks.[1]
