Overview

During the conflict between Able's Aces and Morrison's Extractors in 3062, Rim Salvage was contracted to recover salvageable machines. Among the machines recovered was an Extractors mech with the location of a Star League era cache hidden on board. It took Rim Salvage ten years to raise the funds for an expedition. In 3072 the cache, a Star League Defense Force aerospace testing facility, was located in an uninhabited system. Rim Salvage managed to recover six experimental Thunderbirds and four functioning Centurion Weapon Systems. The sale of four of the recovered fighters more than recouped the cost of the venture.[1]

Rim Salvage built two prototype Thunderbirds using both the recovered lostech and advanced weaponry imported from the Inner Sphere. Rim Salvage refused to sell or allow others to fly their prototypes for fear of losing them in an accident. Instead, the functioning prototypes were used in a fundraising campaign to secure the financing for another expedition, this time seeking a SLDF proving grounds the company believed it had located deeper into the Periphery.[1]

On 20 March 3082, FrontierTech, Inc. released a document claiming that they had discovered proof that Rim Salvage was a shell company operated by the Word of Blake, which caused them to cut ties with the company and alert the Aces to the Blakist presence on Gillfillan's Gold. According to this document the TRB-XTS was under ongoing development on Circinus rather than assembled on Gillfillans' Gold from lostech.[1]

Rim Salvage has a manufacturing center on the following planet:

Gillfillan's Gold

Components produced on Gillfillan's Gold:

Notes

^ FrontierTech's claim that Rim Salvage was a front for the Word of Blake contains several errors. The company is erroneously referred to as "Rim Refit" at one point in the note, and it would not be possible for the Word to be developing a Thunderbird variant on Circinus in 3082 due to the world having already been sterilized with nuclear weapons. Whether or not the claim is accurate is unknown as of the writing of this article.
