Reiner Wooden was CEO of Interstellar Expeditions from 3059 to 3091.[1][2]

History

Born into a middle-class family on Crellacor during the final years of the Third Succession War, from a young age Reiner Wooden was deeply fascinated by history, taking part in a number of both public and privately funded archeological digs in his youth. Ultimately securing an internship with the Star Group, Wooden was able to attend the prestigious Archeological Foundation Universidad on Butler. Transitioning to Interstellar Expeditions following the completed merger of the Star Group and the Mutual Exploration Network, by the 3030s Wooden's reputation after a decade of successful multi-world digs while tightly maintaining budget control in comparison to rampant and excessive spending among IE's top-level executives and partners resulted in his elevation to Chief Operating Officer for the entire organization.[1]

Wooden's tenure as Interstellar Expeditions' COO was highly effective, by 3043 successfully having purged the organization of numerous overly bloated projects and impossible dreams, dissolving the contracts of several of the more unprofessional groups and refocusing IE on its core objective of investigating the long-lost Minnesota Tribe, his reputation enhanced with a few new key discoveries in the late 3040s in response to this reprioritization. Still an eager student of history and with IE now focused on the core values he believed in, Wooden would continue to join various IE digs along the Lyran Commonwealth and Free Worlds League border worlds in the late 3050s and 3060s despite assassination attempts, a kidnapping by Circinus Federation pirates and the loss of his personal JumpShip the Farnsworth. By this stage Wooden was considered one of the five richest private individuals in Steiner space.[1]

Around 3059 Interstellar Expeditions had entered a lean period thanks to the termination of several high-profile and less than reputable contractors and death of several long-term financial donors to natural causes, when Reiner Wooden would meet Chandrasekhar Kurita, these discussions resulting in Uncle Chandy agreeing to increase his support for the organization, additional resources expanding its remit and resulting in Wooden's promotion to Chief Executive Officer shortly after. When the Word of Blake Jihad exploded, Wood chose to publicly adopt a neutral stance for Interstellar Expeditions, but steady pressure from Lord Kurita finally persuaded Wooden to help combat the Blakists. Upon Uncle Chandy's untimely death at their hands, Reiner Wooden would maintain Kurita's tacit support for Devlin Stone's Coalition, using his own personal fortune to subsidize various mercenary units he pledged to Stone's command.[1]
