The Ravisham Collective was one of the Pentagon Powers, a collection of warlord states living in the ruins of the Star League in Exile. The Collective occupied a portion of Arcadia's western continent.[2]

History

The Ravisham Collective was a minor power on West Arcadia, centered in a mountain range with little arable land between the Nation of Hastur and Ilkasur Shogunate. The Collective didn't have the resources to monitor their border even to the extent the other powers could, and both of their neighbours were considerably more powerful than them. This forced the Ravisham to adopt a militaristic way of life, with their frequent lightning raids on their neighbours being necessary to secure the supplies and disrupt force concentrations that could overrun the Collective. Despite their disadvantages the people of the Collective managed to survive, but not to thrive, under the watchful gave of the Collective's secret police.[1]

The Collective's people witnessed the WarShip Admiral Schone fall to Arcadia's surface as the Clans fought the system's spacers, but didn't have the equipment necessary to figure out what was happening in orbit. When DropShips started landing in West Arcadia, Premier Nathan Ravisham believed the invaders were from another Pentagon World and decided to take advantage of the chaos. The Clans had considered the Collective a secondary target, and so the first encounters between Collective forces and the invaders were when Collective bands raided settlements in the crosshairs of clan units.[1]

Because they'd finished their assault on Hastur faster than the Ghost Bears, Clan Star Adder assaulted the Collective unassisted. The Adders used their DropShips to bypass the Collective's layed defenses and quickly overran the capital of Toomin, but Collective secret police forced the local civilians to make suicidal attacks on the occupiers that enabled the Premier to escape to the mountains and organize a guerilla campaign. This only lasted five weeks; the Adders, alongside former Ilkasur troops and the local civilians, overran the caches and captured Ravisham.

Ravisham and his lieutenants were executed, though their former subjects carried out the sentence instead of the Star Adders; the locals also lynched many of Ravisham's lieutenants the clans had intended to spare. The people of the Collective had grown to hate their regime as Ravisham had hoarded luxuries while they lived without electricity, medicine and only limited food rations. The Collective's people viewed the Adders as liberators, even if they remained hostile to the Shogunate troops the Adders brought with them. Not all of Ravisham's inner circle was captured, however - for almost a century the local mountains remained host to guerillas resisting the clans, and their Dark Caste descendants remain at large to this day.[1]
