Sergeant Ralston McAnis was a MechWarrior, who served in the Northwind Highlanders' Stirling's Fusiliers, as of 3058.[3]

McAnis was considered to be slightly overweight.[4]
History
In 3058, McAnis was part of the Stirling's Fusiliers' mission to attack Clan Smoke Jaguar's Deep Periphery base on Wayside, on behalf of the Draconis Combine. On 3 July 3058, McAnis participated with her fellow Kilsyth Guards in the initial attempted assault on Wayside against a far superior Jaguar force than intelligence had suggested, which resulted in heavy losses for the Stirling's Fusiliers and their Combine allies.[3]
Surviving the initial assault, McAnis rallied with Major Loren Jaffray, at the Bay of Kurita Prime. While there, he was one of the volunteers for covert mission using captured Smoke Jaguar OmniMechs, to which he was assigned with ten of his comrades.[5] This mission was to impersonate a Binary of Clan Smoke Jaguar 'Mech, and raid Clan Nova Cat locations on worlds near Wayside, with the goal of encouraging them to launch a reprisal raid against the Jaguars on Wayside. During the briefing for this mission, on 6 July while on the DropShip Bull Run, McAnis objected ineffectually against Major Jaffray's orders that the bodies of any fallen members of the raids were to be destroyed to prevent the Nova Cats finding out they were not Clanners.[6]
During the last engagement of this mission, a 25 July raid on Nova Cat forces on Tarnby led by Star Colonel Santin West, McAnis was burned alive in his 'Mech during fighting with the Nova Cats due to a CASE malfunction when his ammunition exploded. Unable to eject, all of that left of McAnis following his death, was unrecognizable carbonized remains.[1][2][7]

McAnis was known to have piloted a STY-3C Starslayer BattleMech.[3]
Notes
The "A Deal With the Dragon" scenario in the Northwind Highlanders scenario pack erroneously gives the date of the initial assault on Wayside as 5 July 3058, but Impetus of War Chapter 9 has those events occurring on 3 July.
