Description
The OmniMarauder was the product of a 3135 General Motors project focused on the future of the venerable Marauder BattleMech. Technician Luke Schteele, brought in on loan from Bander BattleMechs, led the design process, introducing a Clan technology-centric OmniMech based on the original BattleMech.[1]
Vastly expensive due to its extensive use of Clan equipment, the OmniMarauder remained an individual prototype for years to come.[1][2]
Weapons and Equipment
The OmniMarauder used a fixed core protected by sixteen and half tons of Ferro-Lamellor armor and built around a Clan-grade Endo Steel frame, a Clan 300 XL engine, Inner Sphere compact gyro and twelve Clan double heat sinks, allowing the MAD-BR-O to retain thirty-five and half tons of pod space.[1]
The Prime configuration was an updated take on the MAD-3R layout, carrying a Clan ER PPC and ER Medium in each arm in support of a HAG 30 in the right torso. With the mammoth HAG protected by CASE II, three tons of HAG munitions and five extra double heat sinks would help the OmniMarauder stay in the heat of combat.[1]
Alternate Configurations
- Alternate Configuration A - The OmniMarauder A was built around Inner Sphere weapons as yet unsurpassed by the Clans, carrying a plasma rifle and a ton of reloads in each arm supported by as mammoth Heavy Gauss Rifle split between the right and center torsos, fed from two tons of HGR rounds. Clan-grade CASE II in the right and center torsos to shield the pilot against the massive cannon exploding and a Clan Light TAG round out the design. BV (2.0) = 2,127[1]
