Mikos Wolf was an Elemental and combat vehicle commander, serving with Clan Wolf and later the Steel Wolves' Wolfkin Keshik, during the Dark Age Era.[1][2]

Personal Appearance

Mikos was an extremely large man, who had a bald head and green eyes.[1]

History

Clan Wolf

Mikos was a Trueborn Elemental, who grew up in a Clan Wolf sibko, and passed his initial Trial of Position as an Elemental at around 20 years of age. Shortly afterwards however his Battle Armor career was cut short during a live-fire training exercise with Clan Jade Falcon, when his Point attempted to swarm a Falcon Stormcrow, and Mikos was seriously injured when the 'Mech sought to brush him off causing an improperly loaded missile to explode.

Left with a damaged spinal cord and temporally paralyzed, Mikos' recovery required two long years, before he could regain full motor control. Impatience caused Mikos to rush his return to active service, but his remaining physical limitations caused a disappointing performance in his Trial of Position to regain warrior status, resulting in Pack Leader Kang-hee relegating him to the Wolves vehicular support detachment.

Assigned an aging Condor battle tank, in his first battle piloting a combat vehicle, Mikos' aggressive approach managed to take out two Jade Falcon BattleMechs while his ammunition lasted. Once his ammunition ran dry however, Mikos refused to retreat to reload, preferring to charge an opposing Falcon 'Mech Star. Crashing into a Falcon Hellbringer and ripping off its leg, this finally disabled his tank, and killed two of his fellow crewmembers.[1][2]

Republic of the Sphere

Abandoning Clan Wolf in shame and frustration, Mikos fled to the Republic of the Sphere, taking a civilian job in construction. He was however approached by a representative of the Steel Wolves following Gray Monday, and accepted an offer to join their ranks.[2]

Steel Wolves

Assigned to the Steel Wolves' Wolfkin Keshik, by November 3132 Mikos was again at the helm of combat vehicles, though he retained a suicidal self-loathing for his failures and the lack of opportunities for combat within the Republic. Seizing what opportunities did become available with a suicidal fervor, he only managed to destroy the tanks provided to him, and kill his fellow crewmates. This included losing a tank which wouldn't start to Capellan Confederation raiders on Algot in 3134. His skills as a pilot were however never in question and his recklessness won praise from his superiors, earning him a new assignment in an Maxim Mk II infantry transport, in recognition for his bravery and knowledge of infantry tactics. This promotion did not however satisfy Mikos, who continued to view himself as a failure.

As a taxi driver for infantry Mikos was mostly successful, delivery his cargo without a scratch, though his crewmembers did keep dying with alarming regularity. These deaths often occurred early in each engagement, since Mikos was contemptuous of his vehicle's lack of weapons, and only came to alive once he started taking enemy fire. This continued until 3146, when Mikos lost a final unarmed infantry transport while defending the Free Worlds League from an attack by the Regulan Fiefs, and finally received a more heavily armed Escort variant of the Maxim.

Returning to battle mere hours after his loss of his unarmed Maxim, his new crew including the gunner Frank almost mutinied by the prospect of being driven by Mikos, but Galaxy Commander Xera forced them to accept him. The ability to shoot back again however completed changed Mikos' approach to battle, with Frank and himself weaving through the Regulan lines without getting hit, and Mikos finally abandoning his sucidial ways to retreat to reload once his ammunition was exhausted.[3]

From this time until his retirement in 3149, Mikos managed to destroy a surprising number of enemies, while losing no more of his own crewmates.[1][2]

Marriage

Mikos married a gunner he had served with in 3148.[2]

Vehicle

Mikos was known to have initially piloted an aging Condor battle tank with Clan Wolf. With the Steel Wolves, Mikos initially received a revolving door of combat vehicles, but after fighting on Algot in 3134 he received a Maxim Mk II infantry transport, the initial example being serial number RSM0127-505.[1] This continued to 3146, when he received a more heavily armed Maxim (Escort), which he piloted until 3149.[2]

This Maxim (Escort) earned a reputation as indestructible during its tenure with Mikos as it driver, but it did not outlast his time with it, as mere weeks after his retirement in 3149 the tank was destroyed during an engagement with the Fourteenth Regulan Hussars on Avior.[3]
