Leonard Hernden was the commanding officer of the Thirty-sixth Pathfinder Company of the Eighth Crucis Lancers' 144th Federated Cavalry Regiment during the Federated Commonwealth Civil War.[1]

History

Hernden and his fellow tank operator Fredrick Johansson were consummate reconnaissance specialists and saw limited action against the Clans while serving in the Lyran Alliance before the outbreak of the FedCom Civil War thrust them into the limelight. Then-Sergeant Hernden and Johansson were with the Eighth Lancers when the unit invaded Proserpina and Hernden assumed command of the Thirty-sixth Pathfinders when the company commander was killed in action. Assigned with finding a gap in the defensive line around Bulldog Enterprises, Hernden and Johansson's discovery of a weak point ten kilometers away from the Eighth Lancers' main line of advance allowed a combat brigade to breach the defenses and take the facility after a day-and-a-half of fighting. Both Hernden and Johansson received promotions – to leftenant and sergeant respectively – as well as the Diamond Sunburst award for their service.[1]

Combat Vehicle

Leftenant Leonard Hernden commanded a Galleon light tank during the fighting on Proserpina.[1]
