Julio Vargas was a Captain, then Wing Commander, in charge of the Death Eagles, the AeroSpace Support Battalion, with the mercenary Gray Death Legion.
History
Julio Vargas was a Captain in 3055.[2] By 3065 his command expanded to a full wing and was promoted to Wing Commander for the Death Eagles. Vargas flew under the callsign "Eagle One-One."
Vargas was the first high ranking Legion officer killed in action during the Third Skye Rebellion. After his craft was disabled over Hesperus II by enemy fire, a Free Skye Rapier attacked the helpless Vargas as he tried to eject, shooting his cockpit with its AC/20 and killing him before he could punch out.[3] Vargas' death would foreshadow the no-quarter brutality of the Skye rebels and the eventual destruction of the Legion in the course of the fighting.
Vehicles
Vargas was an experienced SL-15 Slayer Aerospace Fighter pilot. The craft was presumably captured by the Legion in a battle against the Draconis Combine.
