Jess Calvert was a Bloodnamed officer and commander of Clan Wolf's Seventh Battle Cluster as of 3097.[1]
History
When the Beta Aimag of Clan Diamond Shark's Swimmer Khanate arrived on Feltre in 3097, Star Colonel Jess—having just recently taken command of the Seventh Battle Cluster—attempted to prove herself by issuing a Trial of Possession for the entire Aimag.[1] The bidding for the Trial eventually reduced each force to a Cluster in strength and placed the combat arena in the Swordtooth Canyons, a region of extreme geographical complexity and naturally-occurring electromagnetic interference. The difficulties inherent to fighting in the Swordtooth area soon reduced the Trial to a series of small-unit actions and Jess' disorganized forces began taking losses. Jess' personal Star weathered the early battle but was low on ammunition and suffering from damage when they were chanced upon by Star Captain Erna's Star of jump jet-equipped BattleMechs. Although the Diamond Shark commander did not realize that she was fighting the leader of the Wolf forces, Erna's soldiers fought ferociously and ultimately backed Jess' men into a box canyon with no way out, forcing her to surrender.[2][3]
The victorious Diamond Shark's subsequently levied a two hundred percent price increase against the entirety of Clan Wolf, leading an enraged Khan Ivan Kerensky to declare a Trial of Reaving against Jess and all of the Bloodnamed warriors who had died during the Trial on Feltre. The ensuing Trial drew in warriors from Clans Jade Falcon, Hell's Horses, Ghost Bear, and the Diamond Sharks and resulted in the destruction of the Koga and Ghiberti lines within the Inner Sphere. The Clans then went on to create the Kittredge Compromise in order to outlaw the use of Trials of Reaving for the settling of grievances and to establish the Great Reaving—leading to the further annihilation of more bloodlines as the years progressed.[1]
