Jerry Schmindler was a notable artillery commander in the Capellan Confederation Armed Forces during the Jihad Era.[1]
History
When the Federated Suns' Operation SOVEREIGN JUSTICE invaded Liao during the early Jihad, Sang-wei Schmindler's artillery company had been mistakenly stocked with thunder-augmented and thunder-active munitions instead of their standard loadouts. Faced with fighting against a company of the Eighth Syrtis Fusiliers without adequate firepower, Schmindler's men elected to saturate a large area with their mines, successfully trapping the enemy force. Although the Fusiliers spent several hundred meters—and numerous disabled BattleMechs and combat vehicles—attempting to reach Schmindler's position, they ultimately retreated before placing the Capellan artillerymen under threat.[2] Following the battle, Schmindler earned the Grand Cordon of Merit for his quick-thinking and began to stock one-to-two tons of thunder munitions whenever his artillery was deployed.[1]
