Ivy Ward was a noble from the Marian Hegemony.
History
Though of a minor noble family with a military tradition, Ivy was not expected to join the military. The death of Ivy's older sister meant that her ex-Principes father's BattleMech fell to her, though she turned out to be a mediocre MechWarrior. Her political, management, and administrative skills were excellent, however, and she was assigned to the III Legio in 3060. During the overthrow of Caesar Sean O'Reilly by his son, Julius, the Third Legion performed well and Ivy was given the powerful Generalship of the Lothario District in the aftermath.[1]
The 3071 nuclear bombing of Alphard and the death of Ceasar Julius again allowed her to put her political and leadership skills to good use. For 13 months, she was the nathion's leading military officer and successfully warded off Word of Blake-backed Circinus Federation invasions. Ivy reacted slowly to the unveiling of Julius's son, Cassius O'Reilly as Caesar. She eventually joined the young ruler's side, but only after his ascendence was assured.[1]
