The hipparion was a variety of small horse native to Tukayyid, found in the New Pannonian Plains. Several farms could be found in the region, breeding the horses for racing. Over generations, they selected for particular coat patterns: black and white stripes, horizontally patterned in what locals often called "racing stripes."[1]
