Officer Havelock Vang was a MechWarrior, who served in the Outworlds Alliance aligned Thermo Police, as of 3058.[2]
History
Early Life
Born on New Oslo in 3029, in the Draconis Combine, Vang was evacuated with his parents to Kaznejoy in 3034 due to the formation of the Free Rasalhague Republic. While there, he attended Sun Tzu School of Combat, studying both 'Mech warfare and sniper / counter-sniper operations. A late night out celebrating, which caused a heavy bout of Kaznejoy sunburn, however resulted in Vang missing his graduation. This ill-discipline resulted in an unfortunate first posting within the Draconis Combine Mustered Soldiery, to the Seventh Pesht Regulars, in order to learn from their veterans.[1]
Thermo Police
Assigned to Sho-sa Vance Rezak's Battalion, Vang refused to stay with Rezak when he defected from the DCMS in 3048 to take command of the Band of the Damned pirates, fleeing under fire while on the world of Helland in the Outworlds Alliance.[1] Rescued on Helland by the Thermo Police, after they tracked the Damned to that world after a series of raids on Outworlds settlements, Vang earned the Police's trust when he fled to them together with a truck full of the pirate's captives.[3]
Earned a place in the Police's ranks by this action, Vang however refused to pilot a standard BattleMech, on the basis that honor was long lost to him.[1] He continued to serve with the Police until at least 3058, when he was a member of the Thermo Police's Security Lance.[2]
Death
Later in life, Vang allowed his history with the Band of the Damned to be published by a media outlet on Tellman IV, which drew the attention of assassins. Three agent, believed to be JàrnFòlk Skåret, attacked Vang with pistols. While Vang was able to drop two of the assassins at long range, a third managed to kill him with a pistol, which was later displayed at the Thermo Police Museum on Tellman IV.[1]
BattleMech
Vang was known to have piloted a ATAE-70M Uni MilitiaMech.[2]
