Gerald Yamamoto was a company commander in the First Ghost Regiment during the Dark Age Era.[1]
History
Sho-sa Yamamoto commanded a mixed company of First Ghost BattleMechs during the invasion of Mara and notably lead them against a fortified bunker network being defended by the Second Robinson Strikers. Yamamoto kept his 'Mechs at the extreme edge of their effective range while penetrating the bunker walls. He then slowly advanced his medium 'Mechs as they provided covering fire for his faster Panthers and Rokurokubis. When the lighter Ghosts breached the bunker, they were swarmed by enemy battle armor and the Strikers' defending BattleMechs. The Davion soldiers were not prepared when Yamamoto's medium machines broke into a sprint and waded into the heart of the tightly-confined battle, cutting down opponents with their swords while expertly managing the heat levels of their other weapons. With the defeat of the Second Strikers' force, the way to the capital city of Terrace was open for the First Ghosts to advance.[2][3]
Yamamoto received the Bushido Blade for his taking of the bunker complex and personally destroyed two of the Robinson BattleMechs during the battle. Like his ancestor Isoroku, Yamamoto believed himself to be a superb strategist but—while his tactics helped secure a victory for the First Ghosts on Mara—the unit's command staff only gave him limited acknowledgement. Yamamoto believed that he had earned a new Shiro BattleMech for his achievements but his behavior earned him the ire of Tai-sa Seijun Noketsuna, who refered to Yamamoto as a "pissant noble unworthy of his heritage."[1]
