George Donaldson was the commanding officer of the Tenth Donegal Guards as of 3025.[1]
History
Colonel Donaldson, serving with the Tenth Donegal Guards, was stationed on Main Street in 3025.[1]
During the Fourth Succession War, Donaldson and the Tenth Donegal Guards faced off against the Twenty-fifth Rasalhague Regulars for control of The Edge's capital city of Bono. By early 3029, the Tenth Guards had secured the high ground east and south of the city and were regularly bombarding the Twenty-fifth Regulars' positions, while the Draconis Combine's troops laid minefields and built trenches. The situation changed on 28 May with the arrival of the First Lyran Regulars, who brushed aside the planetary militia at the cost of the First Regulars' cohesion with their conventional support. When the First Regulars reached Bono's outskirts in the second week of July, Donaldson's Guards coordinated a joint assault on the city's defenses. While the assault initially went well, the Lyran's infantry support were badly hurt when the First Regulars broke off their advance to chase a Rasalhague BattleMech company and left the Second Vulcan Mechanized Infantry Regiment unprotected.[2]
The First Regulars' misstep gave the Twenty-fifth Rasalhague the chance to escape to their DropShips and leave the planet. The battle's final blow came when a botched recognition sign lead troops from both the Tenth Guards and First Regulars to fire on each other, leading to the destruction of one BattleMech and the death of twenty Lyran soldiers.[2]
