The Fredonian Industrial Technologies (F.I.T.) was a BattleMech design consortium.
History
Little is known about F.I.T. until Clan War veterans Gittleman and Abzug joined the studio. They intended to design a new generation of BattleMechs capable of dealing with the advances of Clantech. To this end they designed the Anubis and Osiris. Which the Osiris design was quickly purchased by Achernar BattleMechs, they Anubis was turned down. F.I.T. shopped the Osiris to the AFFC Department of the Quartermaster and every other Federated Suns manufacturer. Gittleman and Abzug turned to sources outside the Suns, where the Detroit Consolidated MechWorks quickly bought the design, and hired the two designers.[1][2][3][4]
Notes
- The Fredonian Industrial Technologies is an alternative acronym for FASA Interactive Technologies and a callback to the Freedonian Aeronautics and Space Administration, better known as FASA.
- Gittleman and Abzug are never given proper names, but Abzug is likely a canonization of David Abzug a longtime Virtual World Entertainment, FASA Interactive, and Microsoft Game Studios contributor to BattleTech. Likewise Gittleman is likely Mitch Gitelman of FASA Interactive, Microsoft Game Studios, and Harebrained Schemes.
