Ferdinand Blane was a notable officer in the Mokane planetary militia during the Dark Age Era.[1]
History
Colonel Blane was serving in Mokane's defensive forces when the Draconis Combine invaded the world in 3144. During the fighting, the Second Genyosha's Sho-sa Kideki Harushima challenged Blane to a one-on-one BattleMech duel, which Blane accepted. After enduring heavy damage to his left leg from the Combine officer's Gauss rifle, Blane relied on his targeting computer to deliver heavy PPC and laser fire from outside the range of Harushima's MRMs. In short order, the Federated Suns warrior had dealt significant damage to his opponent's 'Mech at the cost of a shattered hip actuator. When Harushima charged forward in order to eliminate Blane's range advantage, the militiaman fired all of his lasers simultaneously, coring the enemy machine. Although he passed out from the heat buildup caused by his finishing attack, Blane was the definitive victor of the duel. Unfortunately, the rest of the Mokane militia proved unable to resist the elite Genyosha forecs for long and the planet ultimately came under the control of the Combine.[1][2]
