Egberdt Rollins was a notable MechWarrior in the Fifth Sword of Light during the Dark Age Era.[1]

History

During the Palmyra Debacle, Busosenshi Rollins was part of the Fifth Sword of Light forces attempting to hunt down the Federated Suns' First Prince Caleb Davion. Rollins' unit stumbled onto a firebase constructed by the Twenty-seventh Avalon Hussars and became engaged with an enemy assault lance and two squads of battle armor. Instead of withdrawing, the Sworders rushed the small town of Twombly and engaged the enemy forces directly, with Rollins facing off alone against a FedSuns Templar III. Rollins used his superior mobility to avoid the Templar's fire before shooting it in its damaged leg with a TSEMP cannon, causing it to lose its balance. Rollins then jumped onto the head of the enemy 'Mech, killing his opponent and forcing the shocked infantry to surrender when he turned his focus onto their positions.[2][3]

After his victory at Twombly, Rollins was promoted to chu-i and given command of his own lance, which became known within the Fifth Sword as the shiroi ken. Rollins' "white swords" became adept at independent strike missions, which they demonstrated during the Fifth Sword's attack on Gambier. While the bulk of the unit landed near the planet's capital city, Rollins' team were dropped behind enemy lines before working their way through the canyons and crags of Tidewater. Two days after initially landing, the white swords struck against the headquarters of the Demeter Capellan March Militia, killing the militia's command staff after a short engagement. As the rest of the Fifth Sword moved to engage, the FedSuns troops moved into retreat, leading to the planet's fall into the Draconis Combine's hands after another two days of combat.[1]
