Edward Redfield was the intelligence officer of the Redfield Renegades during the War of 3039 before taking command of the unit as of 3054.[2][1]
History
During the joint Federated Suns/Lyran Commonwealth invasion of the Draconis Combine in 3039, Captain Redfield and the Redfield Renegades were assigned to capture the planet of Sadachbia alongside the Eighth Deneb Light Cavalry. While the initial invasion went off seamlessly, with both the local garrison and government surrendering without violence, the suspected presence of the Combine's mysterious Ghost Regiments began to weigh heavily on the occupiers' minds. As the men of the Eighth DLC and Redfield Renegades became increasingly convinced that their unknown enemy was preparing for an assault at any moment, Captain Redfield would famously remark that "the problem with ghosts is, you can't kill them"—a sentiment that would become ironic when the Ninth Dieron Regulars counterattacked later in the year.[2][3]
By 3054, now-Colonel Redfield had gained command of the Renegades and was stationed on Harsefeld while serving under a contract with the Free Worlds League.[1]
