Conchobhar Reyer was the commanding officer the First Ghost Regiment during the Second Combine-Dominion War.[1]
History
Chu-sa Reyer, commanding the First Ghost's armor battalion, was stationed on Nykvarn in 3085.[2] By the time of the Second Combine-Dominion War, Reyer had been promoted to Tai-sa and overall command of the First Ghost Regiment. When the Draconis Combine began its counterattack against the Ghost Bear Dominion in early 3099, Reyer and the First Ghosts were tasked with capturing the world of Jarett from the Dominion's Fifty-fifth Provisional Garrison Cluster. After two days of transit from the system's jump point, Reyer recognized the PGC's DropShips moving into position in order to create a lethal cordon in Jarett's high orbit. On 23 May, he ordered his own DropShips to approach the planet at high speeds and to only decelerate at the last moment in order to shoot past any orbital defenders—while this strategy worked for the most part, damage done to the DropShip Illustrious Sabre caused it to bounce off the planetary atmosphere before perishing while attempting reentry.[1]
Reyer's landing zones came under immediate aerospace assault and the ground battle became a major exercise in combined-arms warfare once the First Ghost made contact with the Fifty-fifth PGC's lines. After getting out of effective range of the Bears' artillery, Reyer ordered his soldiers to focus on targeting the PGC's weapons stockpiles and command, control, and communications assets in order to nullify their combat effectiveness. The First Ghosts' larger size also began to tell as the heavy fighting continued into mid-June, by which point Reyer's men had successfully captured the majority of Jarett's munitions caches and incapacitated the planetary communications network. The battle for the planet concluded once word of the subsequent invasion of Thule reached the Fifty-fifth PGC's commander, leading to their withdrawal off-world and a victory for the First Ghosts.[1]
