Colonel Cleveland Alfieri was a mercenary officer with the Eridani Light Horse, and served as the commanding officer of the Seventy-first Light Horse Regiment, during the thirty-first century.[1][2]
History
War of 3039
Taking command of the Seventy-first Light Horse during the War of 3039, Colonel Alfieri led them on Fellanin II, when they were accidentally abandoned by Armed Forces of the Federated Suns command who mistakenly believed they had already transferred to Homam in the face of Draconis Combine reinforcements. This left the Seventy-first alone on Fellanin II, when the Second Arkab Legion under Tai-sa Marissa Groh arrived in August 3039 to reclaim the world, and coordinated a furious week long assault on the Light Horse's defensive position at Fort Jinjiro together with surviving elements of the Fourth Proserpina Hussars. This forced Colonel Alfieri to retreat off-world in early September, though in the confusion of the withdrawal the Seventy-first suffered heavy losses, leaving them nearly destroyed.[2][3][4][5]
Demoralized from this disaster, Colonel Alfieri decided to retire from active service with the Eridani Light Horse, effective from December 3039.[6]
Later Career
This decision to retire did not however stick, and as of 3050, Colonel Alfieri was once again in command of the Seventy-first Light Horse. At this time, he was stationed on Saiph with the unit, while under contract with the Federated Commonwealth.[1]
