Charles Ward was a notable MechWarrior in the First Kestrel Grenadiers during the Dark Age Era.[1]
History
Originally a student at the Robinson Battle Academy until the planet was invaded by the Draconis Combine, Subaltern Ward was attached to the First Kestrel Grenadiers in order to finish his training and graduate into the Armed Forces of the Federated Suns. Ward was assigned a BattleMech and a position in a security lance on Remagen weeks before the Combine's Hikage invaded the planet. When the Combine's pursuit of his lance tightened, Ward challenged a Hikage Warhammer to single combat. Ward's machine was brutalized in the fight, losing much of its armor, both of its arms, and one of its legs, and the 'Mech was further damaged as Ward forced it into a standing position. He ultimately won the duel after his last shot blasted through the enemy's cockpit but Ward was left immobilized and unconscious until after the Combine were thrown off-world. By 3150, Ward was continuing to heal from his injuries and was awaiting word of his next assignment.[1]
