The blood fern was a type of large carnivorous plant. It had crimson leaves dotted with azure spots, interspersed with its weapon: blood red fronds, razor-like in shape, that left sap on whatever touched them. This sap caused welts, intense pain and numbness; stunned animals would be taken by the fern's feeders. Sufficient sap could hospitalize a human.[1]
As of 3136, blood ferns could be found in the arboretum in Royal Park, Lesnovo.[1]
