Overview
Following action on Cammal in 3002[4], Warrior House Ijori's regiment was sent to the historically Davion world of Tsamma to support a pro-Capellan revolutionary government.[2][1] In 3003, the Dry River Devils mercenary regiment, under contract with the AFFS, was dispatched as part of a Davion force to raid the nominally Davion world of Tsamma[2]. However, the mercenaries were no match for House Ijori's spirited defense, and when expected reinforcements and supplies failed to arrive as planned, they were forced to surrender.[1][3]
Outcome
The Davion defeat at Tsamma was viewed as a exemplar of the AFFS's deteriorating military prowess due to corruption in the ranks. In this case specifically, the failure was attributed to Michael Hasek-Davion who used his influence to divert supplies and funds to nobles he sought favors with that corroded the ranks of the military's administrative and logistical capabilities to plan and support major operations.[2][3]
The Dry River Devils' defeat and surrender, which included handing over their 'Mechs to Warrior House Ijori, was seen as good return on Chancellor Maximillian Liao's investment in expanding the Warrior House regiments during the previous decade.[1]
