Prelude
The destruction of so much of the Armed Forces of the Federated Suns at Palmyra in 3144 opened the way for predations of interior Suns worlds, which did not go unnoticed by the Raven Alliance. Inner End was targeted for conquest alongside Haynesville and Diboll.[3][4]
Overview
On 21 July 3144 two Clusters from Gamma Galaxy—100th Raven Battle Cluster and an unknown unit (likely the 121st Raven Battle Cluster)—invaded Inner End, to the amusement of Raven peers. The defenders, elements of the National Guard from Kilbourne Periphery March Militia had established vast antiaircraft defenses to counteract the Raven's inevitable airspace superiority. They were unprepared for the V configuration Kit Fox which served as a highly mobile Arrow IV artillery platform. With the fortifications destroyed, Raven aerospace assets quickly broke organized resistance.[5][6][7]
The defenders fled into the planet's hinterlands intent on establishing an insurgency. With two Clusters of resources, the Ravens quickly established a surveillance network covering the area. Any communities within fifty kilometers of resistance activity were forcibly relocated to the cities where Raven Elementals, ProtoMechs, and Alliance Military Corps infantry kept order. With the hinterlands depopulated, the Raven's declared anyone caught outside the cities were to be presumed hostile. Unlike a similar application of this strategy on Gibson in the 3050s, it was successful on Inner End.[5][8]
With the insurgency now isolated, Star Colonel Hector Vewas outfitted his OmniMechs with energy-based configurations and formed ad-hoc Novas to flush the defenders from their positions. Though the National Guard put up a spirited defense, their last company of heavy armor was destroyed by a pair of Kingfishers. Even unorganized resistance collapsed soon after.[5][9][10]
Aftermath
The relocation strategy was seen as so successful, it was replicated on Hazelhurst in December 3145.[5]
