Overview

Operation STILETTO was a campaign conducted by mercenary forces on behalf of General Motors and Johnston Industries. Two task forces struck at Acamar and Genoa, worlds within what had become known as the Chaos March, intending to help stabilize the region enough to facilitate continued trade.[1]

Preparations

Several mercenary teams had been investigating pirate bases on the systems external planetois when they were ordered to return planet except two of them. One DropShip detected stray transmissions originating from the Illeudian Asteroid Belt. They were sent to investigate them.[2]

Battle

Once the mercenaries DropShip detected the signal and changed curse to Illeudian-236 they dispatched aerospace forces to ward of the attack.

Following a quick but bloody battle in space the mercenary BattleMechs executed a combat drop to secure a landing place for their DropShip just ten kilometers from the pirates base, which consisted of several manmade structures close to a large cavern and a DropShip landing zone. Defending the base were almost a company of BattleMechs though no DropShip. The mercenaries repulsed the pirates and their DropShip landed where expected.[3]

The mercenary force pursued the pirates and reached their base where they found the rest of the 'Mech forces dugged in and prepared for the fight. Imhaus saw the writing on the Wall and while his forces fought he escaped with a few of his men through the mine tunnels with part of his looted worth million C-Bills to pick one of the two shuttles he had at his disposal while his 'Mech forces retreated through the mines escaping the mercenaries .[4]

The pirates equiped their 'Mechs with strap-on jump packs launching from the Surface of the planetoid into the asteroid field. They had tried to stop the mercenaries by collapsing the mine entrance, though they were only able to stall them a bit.[5]

The mercenaries followed the pirated through the asteroid fields. Imhaus decided to cut his losses and escaped with his bounty, the DropShips, JumpShips and the few 'Mech survivors he was able to pick.[6]

Aftermath

The mercenary forces beat the pirates and had time to investigate the base. Several leads helped them trace the origins of Imhaus. His actions while selling in the black market what they had robbed, which finally lead investigators to a legitimate clearinghouse on Sarmaxa.[7]
