Adrian Robertson was an officer in the Armed Forces of the Federated Suns during the War of 3039.[1]
History
On 2 April 3039, Leftenant Robertson of the Armed Forces of the Federated Suns departed from Robinson's military command center on his way home from work, making a quick detour to a department store to buy a toy for his daughter. While in the store, Robertson's vehicle—and the briefcase full of military secrets in the trunk related to the ongoing invasion of the Draconis Combine—was stolen by unknown thieves. For the next twenty-four hours, Duke Aaron Sandoval authorized a communications and travel lockdown for the entire planet, as local police and Ministry of Information, Intelligence, and Operations agents searched for Robertson's car. Fears that the Combine's Internal Security Force had been behind the theft were defused when, on 3 April, an anonymous caller contacted the Robinson City Police Department with the location of Robertson's vehicle.[1]
When Robertson's car was recovered in a parking lot in the city's center, the briefcase in its trunk was found to have been forced open but with all of its contents intact. A note from the unknown perpetrator claimed that none of the key military secrets had been copied or passed on to foreign agents, as the thief was also a patriot of the Federated Suns. The identity of the "Patriotic Thief" responsible for the temporary theft of Robertson's property was never officially established but the events they caused would have little impact on the outcome of the war.[1]
