Overview
The Pan-Humanists are a philosophical movement begun in the Periphery. Founded on the Outworlds Alliance planet Ramora by Herodias Ap Gwynn in the late thirtieth-century, the Pan-Humanists believe that all humanity shares a common path, future and goals, a pan-human unity. Though Pan-Humanists may not be able to adequately interpret the path, they choose the obvious course of action to improve all mankind, which is to act as conciliators, diplomats, teachers and healers.
The Pan-Humanists work throughout the Human Sphere to reconcile political, social and military disputes through education and diplomacy. Ironically enough, the philosophy of the Pan-Humanists is most akin to the surface intent of the Star League. In stark contrast to the Star League, the work of the Pan-Humanists has not harmed those it ostensibly endeavors to help.[1]
Truth massacre
The Capellan state actively persecuted the Pan-Humanists when they were determined to be dangerous to the interests of the state and disloyal to the Chancellor. In 3020 (or possibly 3013; see Notes) a hand-picked company of MechWarriors under the command of Pavel Ridzik, drawn from the Capellan Hussars and the Maskirovka masqueraded as a rogue mercenary unit and raided the Pan-Humanist Congregation on Truth. The congregation on Truth was shattered, with over three thousand killed including women and children, with only a handful escaping. The faith reportedly ceased to exist as an organized religion, though it remains unclear from the context if that refers to the world of Truth, the Capellan Confederation, or the entire faith everywhere.[2] (The profile for Captain Gabriel Quinn mentions that she refused to partake in a 3013 massacre of civilians on Truth for their religious beliefs and that at the time she was one of twelve individuals commanded by Pavel Ridzik. She was subsequently imprisoned, but freed again in 3015. This may refer to another, earlier action on Truth that may or may not have been directed against the Pan-Humanists; alternatively, the aforementioned massacre may have taken place in 3013 and the date of 3020 given in the Pavel Ridzik profile was in error.)
