Kent Gerber was the commanding officer of the Fifth Amphigean Light Assault Group from at least 3025 to 3039.[2][3]
History
In 3025, Kent Gerber was stationed on Harvest with the Fifth Amphigean Light Assault Group.[3] Tai-sho Gerber and the Fifth Amphigean were stationed on New Wessex by 3038 and later moved to Vega by April 3039 where they defended against the initial Lyran Commonwealth–Federated Suns invasion at the outset of the War of 3039.[2][4]
War of 3039
On 12 February 3039, Federated Suns and Lyran Commonwealth raiders captured a base belonging to the Ninth Sun Zhang Academy Cadre in the city of Carp on Dieron. General Kent Gerber and the Fifth Amphigean were tasked with repelling them while fighting alongside the Cavaliers mercenary unit to test their chemistry working together. After reclaiming the base, the Cavaliers were absorbed into the Fifth.[5]
Defending against the blunt of the Federated Commonwealth offensive on Vega, Gerber and the Fifth Amphigean lost a lot of personnel. After standing their ground against a heavy assault on 20 April 3039, Sho-sho Christine Nordica and the Fourteenth Legion of Vega allowed them some respite from the slugfest.[6] With the attackers employing a number of mercenaries against them, Gerber was ordered to single out and remove one of them: the Seventeenth Recon Regiment. A raid by the Fifth on their gear in the city of Nasew netted them encrypted files from the Seventeenth's data servers,[7] identifying high-value targets which the Fifth then subsequently struck. Having been exposed, Carlos Camacho and his forces were overwhelmed and pushed off-world.[8]
General Gerber's next assignment was to demolish a pair of Fourteenth Legion bases that were abandoned in the city of Orlux before Snord's Irregulars could move in and claim them.[9] Despite their success, Rhonda Snord and the Irregulars exacted some revenge by ambushing Chu-sa Fengo Olesko's unit in the Bandii Wastes, injuring the commander and leaving him unresponsive. Fortunately, a rescue effort was able to clear the area of artillery spotters and a medivac VTOL was able to evacuate Olesko.[10]
Still, the Fifth Amphigean had suffered significant losses and Gerber made the decision to withdraw from Vega in order to regroup. On 6 May 3039,[11] the Cavaliers were detached from the Fifth and helped the Fourteenth Legion shield their departure. The Fifth made it off-world on three Union-class DropShips—the Liberty, Titan, and Falcon—amid a strong push by Snord's Irregulars and FedCom Alliance forces to stop them.[12]
Clan Invasion
In 3051, Kent Gerber had come out of retirement and led the Fifth as a resistance movement against the Clan Smoke Jaguar occupation force on Courchevel.[13] Kent Gerber ultimately sacrificed himself in a final stand against the Jaguars, buying enough time for Helen Cassidy and the survivors of the Fifth to escape on a Union DropShip. Cassidy thus became the commanding officer of the Fifth again.[1]

In his final battle, Kent Gerber piloted an ANH-1A Annihilator.[1]
Behind the Scenes
In MechWarrior 5: The Dragon's Gambit, Kent Gerber was voiced by Nicolas Greco.[14] He reprised this role in MechWarrior 5: Clans.[15]
