First Flight Lieutenant John "Hammer" Hamrahan was an aerospace fighter pilot, who served in the Holt's Hilltoppers mercenary unit, from at least 3057 to 3068.[1][2][3]

History

One of the Holt Planetary Militia who defected to become Holt's Hilltoppers, Hamrahan was a founding member of the Hilltoppers, and the initial commander of their airspace wing. A man without ego, he however accepted demotion when the Hilltoppers merged with Irina Tripolskaya's aerospace contingent from the Magistracy of Canopus, becoming her deputy. During the Hilltopper's campaign on Ashio, Hamrahan refused to abort an attack run which resulted in him being shot down, though he did not eject until his ground strikes had been completed. Hospitalized for a month with his injuries, his selfless dedication became legendary amongst his comrades.

His nickname "Hammer" came from Hamrahan's reputation for pinpoint bombing accuracy, and he retained it even after his wingman Stan "Anvil" Kettle was killed, on Warlock during the Capellan-St. Ives War.[1]

As of 3062, Hamrahan served in Bolt Flight, within the Holt's Hilltoppers aerospace forces.[2] By 3068, at which time the Hilltoppers had an expanded aerospace contingent, Hamrahan had been transferred to Clothyard Flight.[3] From Clothyard Flight, Hamrahan commanded the Hilltopper's notional second squadron, which comprised Clothyard and Dart Flights.[1]

Vehicle

Hamrahan was known to have initially piloted a Lucifer medium aerospace fighter, which had belonged to his grandfather before him. After this fighter was shot down on Ashio however, he received a new Eagle heavy aerospace fighter.[2][3][1]
