Holden Planetary Engineers was the largest terraforming company in the Terran Hegemony.
Overview
The origins of Holden Planetary Engineers stem from what was the Terran Hegemony's own Habitability Department. With terraforming proving a highly profitable industry across the Inner Sphere yet with the Terran Hegemony government doing all its own projects, the Hegemony High Court ruled that the Hegemony was restraining trade and ordering the government to privatize the department. The leader of the Habitability Department as of 2408, David Holden, would oversee this process and inspire its new name as Holden Planetary Engineers.[1]
The terraforming industry expanded wildly during the Star League's Good Years, with Holden Planetary Engineers taking advantage for the spike in planetary terraforming to become the largest terraforming company within the Hegemony's borders, manufacturing such varied things as oxygen factories and storm inhibitors as well as breeding microbes and plants that assisted the terraforming process. By the Star League's collapse Holden Planetary Engineers had completed more than three hundred terraforming projects. Like many high-tech Hegemony based companies, Holden Planetary Engineers was shattered by the Amaris Coup and the Succession Wars that followed, as the technology and knowledge around its terraforming processes swiftly became LosTech.[1]
Notes
- The Star League claims that Holden Planetary Engineers emerged from the Bureau of Star League Affairs yet its formation date of 2408 is centuries prior to the Star League's founding in 2570.
